Sorry, the first game was great, but this one was a bit of a dissapointment. TL:DR Large, confusing, copypasted world. Evenso, the story seems to be left without much of a conclusion. After I finished the game I had to look up a playthough online to see if I had missed something. One that made the iceworm not much of a threat, one that caused me to not be able to enter/exit my habitat until I restarted without saving, and one which caused me to not recieve a message more or less essential to the story. Lastly, I encountered a number of bugs though my playthrough. There is no satisfying conclusion to the story about the humans, and the alien story is fairly lackluster. The story kinda fizzles out halfway through. Later in the game, you gain access to deeper caves where there are alot of resources, but there is nothing to use it for. You unlock more advanced modules and assets to your base about halfway through, but there is no reason to use them over the ones you already have. Submerge yourself in an all-new, sub-zero expedition in an arctic region of Planet 4546B. It is a new chapter in the Subnautica universe. There is no incentive to build another base other than close to the starting zone, becuse you are travellng back and forth across the map through the entire story. Below Zero is an underwater adventure game set on an alien ocean world. There are several places where there are alot of areas to explore, but very few of them actually contain anything special. It seems like they wanted to reach a certain size of the map, but instead of designing more kinds of biomes, or make them more distinct/memorable, they just expanded the already existing areas, making them confusing to navigate, and tedious to traverse through.
The core gameplay is basically the same and the first 5 hours or so, it's the same wonderful gameplay as the original subnautica, and the story seems intruiging.īut about halfway through, the game kinda falls apart.
